During the autumn term our activities had an autumnal feel with a walk around the village collecting conkers and leaves. We celebrated the harvest with a church service where we collected food for the homeless. We also took part in the Wicken fen scarecrow festival and produced ‘David the commuter’ and won best dressed scarecrow. We then carved a pumpkin and made soup from the pumpkin flesh. Delicious!
Lots of craft and cooking activities took place in the run up to Christmas as well as our Christmas church service where the children enjoyed dressing up as nativity characters and acting our their version of the Christmas story.
Early in the new year we visited Snakehall Farm to take part in various activities including wellie throwing but most importantly the planting of the new orchard.
We celebrated Chinese New Year and Valentine’s day with appropriate activities, cooked pancakes on Shrove Tuesday and went on an Easter egg hunt. Once again we went to church and learnt about what happened at Easter.
To celebrate the Royal wedding we made crowns and flags and again ran a successful stall at Reach Fair.
The beginning of June saw us taking part in the Big Toddle, this year raising £123. Our float in this year’s carnival depicted the four seasons – our interpretation of the carnival theme ‘The Natural World’.
We concluded the term with a lively sports day and a busy party where we said a fond farewell and best wishes our fourteen school lrisers.
